West Fields first ever year has been such a blast for everyone so far. With all of the activities, sporting events, dances, and everything in between, it has made everybody feel connected. Some Longhorns have come together to share their favorite parts of the school year.
The number one top moment of the school year has been, not surprisingly, the football games. Senior Maisey Miller shared, “The Homecoming football game was definitely a moment I’ll always remember.” With all of the prepping, dressing up, and just having school spirit, it can make traditions like homecoming last forever. High school doesn’t last forever, but the memories will.
The next most common moment of the school year has been the dances. Sophomore Lena Gillaspy shared, “Dances were so fun and helped me to have something to look forward to throughout the school year.” Miller also shared that “Dances were a fun way of getting to know more people because you usually would have new people in your group.” Dances at school led to more friendships, and more fun. They were something everybody was looking forward to throughout the year.
The third most favorite thing about this year was lunch. Junior Oakley Erickson said, “I like that we only have one lunch so I can always be with my friends.” Students from other schools, like Weber and Fremont, have two different lunches so they don’t get to spend time with their friends as much as they would want to. Although, Erickson does wish that lunch was longer. Nevertheless, Students love being able to know that they have someone to hangout with and not be by themselves. Senior Clayton Win shared, “My favorite part of the year was spending time in the lunchroom.” West Field’s lunch room is larger than most, and they have nice cafeteria ladies, which students love.
Another favorite thing at West Field is the big windows. Erickson shared that, “Having the natural light in the classrooms helps me stay focused and motivated.” It is common knowledge that sunlight can help reduce stress and help you have more energy. The creation of the school helps students stay focused because it is a nicer school, with natural light, which it can help some students come to school.

The last thing that some students love at West Field is the mentoring classes. Junior Camri Spaulding shared, “I love mentoring because I love meeting new people, being able to create new connections and stay caught up with work.” Mentoring is a new thing the school wanted to try. You graduate with these people and so therefore, being able to graduate with these people creates new connections and friendships that students love.
In conclusion, Longhorns love meeting new people and getting to go to activities and sporting events. This year has created so many opportunities for students. Longhorns have loved the interactive environment going on at West Field. The 2024-2025 has been a great first year for West Field. Go Longhorns!!
