The tryouts went smoothly, according to Coach Barfuss. He stated, “If someone wanted to play, they were supposed to be here last summer; cuts were an extension of our off-season workouts.” This showed that only the most dedicated players were considered for the team, being they had to come during their summer break. Garrett stated that tryouts were well-attended, saying, “They were good; quite a few people showed up.” Abbot added, “Tryouts were good, a ton of people tried out, and the team looks good!” The turnout of tryouts set a positive tone for the upcoming season and showed the strong interest the players have at West Field.

Pratt and Garret agreed with this, aiming to “win region the first year,” while Abbott also repeated the team’s hope to win: “Winning region and state championship.” The determination among the players suggests that West Field’s baseball season will be one to remember.
