Gaming can be one of the most fun experiences for anyone. Some students may wonder what video games are out there that can help keep them entertained from time to time. Luckily, are four popular games that students currently like to play.
Cookie Run Kingdom is an action role-play gacha game where it has an far-ranging narrative of the cookies setting out on an expedition to find the Ancient Heroes and other allies in their journey. In this game, players are able to build and manage their own cookie kingdoms, collect cookies using crystals and battle in various modes, all while leveling up their kingdom and cookie teams. Jillian Wuollet, a junior, said, “I really like the characters and the story.”

Genshin Impact is an anime-style fantasy open world action role playing game. Players get to explore through the seven nations of Teyvat with their traveling campaign, Paimon, in hopes that they’ll find their twin sibling. At the beginning of the game, players encounter an unknown god that has crossed their path. The players have to choose which sibling they’re going to play as for the rest of the game. Once people begin to play the game, players will be able to pull for new characters and weapons by using intertwined fates or acquaint fates. Getting new characters will help players build up their team to fight off monsters and bosses throughout the game, making it easier for players to win rewards and to complete story quests.

Minecraft has been one of the most popular and creative games of all time ever since the year 2011. Minecraft is a game where players have access to a virtual world where they can explore, create and survive in. This also gives players a chance to create whatever comes to mind in their own world, whether that would be creating their own cities, farms, houses, castles or even making complex mechanical devices. Molly Miller, a sophomore, said, “It’s interactive; you can do anything that you want and it’s peaceful.” Kids also get to learn skills like problem-solving, creativity, resource management, teamwork and even some basic programming concepts, all while engaging in a fun virtual world.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a video game set in 1899 that follows Arthur Morgan, a member of the Dutch Van der Linde gang. This fictionalized game is set in a time period where outlaws are now being hunted down by the U.S. government in the American west, midwest and south. After a failed robbery in Blackwater, the gang is forced to flee and find new areas to hide so that they don’t get caught by the government. As the player begins to play the game, their job is to fight against rival gangs, governmental forces and bounty hunters. Players also have to make sure that everyone in the Dutch Van der Linde gang gets enough food and supplies. Players also must help Arthur Morgan choose between his own ideals or loyalty to his gang. Players also get to experience six chapters including a part-two epilogue and a living world with AI-controlled triggers and lots of dialog.
