Superbowl Preview

I’m Roman Mitchell. I like the superbowl I imagine most people do but for the past few years it seems like the chiefs just can’t stop winning it. It has gotten to the point where it has become a meme how much they are favored by the refs. The real reason I wanted to write this is because personally I hate the chiefs and I hate how they just keep winning. In this article I’m going to be learning how many people in Westfield hate the chiefs as much as me. We’re also going to be investigating whether people think they are abusing the obvious favoritism the referee’s show them. Weston(A junior) was the first person I refereed taking advantage of my English class with him. I asked him first “Who do you think’s going to win the superbowl” he told me the chiefs were the most likely team to win. I asked him why he thought that and he told me it wasn’t because he was a Chiefs fan he actually hated the teams. He just thought that it was more likely because of how much money the NFL could make off that win considering the Taylor Swift fans that only started watching football because of Travis dating Taylor. I think he could be right. And this got me into another round of questioning “Do you think the NFL is scripted?” He said that he believes the NFL is scripted to a certain extent. Not that individual plays are scripted but that sometimes certain wins are caused by the script hence why there are “weird” calls that make no sense when investigated further. This drove me to another friend of mine Hank(a junior) and I asked him straight out if he thought the NFL was scripted. He told me that “No the NFL can’t be scripted because otherwise there wouldn’t be close games. You’d make sure the team you wanted to win would win.” Now this gives me pause…because it makes zero sense what does that even mean. Football is entertainment. Close games are more fun than absolute blow outs. If every football game was an absolute blow out no one would watch the NFL but I didn’t want to be rude so I disregarded that answer and asked him who he thought was going to win the superbowl. He told me that he believed the eagles would win because they have a better offense than the chiefs both in players and in plays. I agreed with this assessment but something about the way he said it threw me off…it doesn’t matter because I just went on and asked David(The Junior) the same question anyway. His response was a rare one “The chiefs are going to win, because uhh they’re better” This was the only person of the 3 I asked who genuinely believed the chiefs were a better team than the eagles.
