Are you failing your classes and don’t know what to do? In this article, I’ll explain to the students of West Field High School how to keep their grades at a passing level, so that they can graduate worry-free.
To begin with, the biggest factor that can determine whether a student fails or not is motivation. Many students don’t believe that they are learning anything useful in their classes, or that getting assignments done will impact their future. However, students should understand that this behavior could lead to a lack of worth ethic in their careers later on. Grades can also majorly impact the possibility of getting into a desired college. Kennesaw State University states, “In order for students to be motivated to accomplish a task, they must see the value in the task, but they must also believe they can be successful at it.” It’s vital for students to understand the consequences of their actions.
In addition, there are methods to become more motivated in order to achieve success. The first method is simply believing in yourself and knowing that you are capable of succeeding. A major reason why students fail is that they believe they are incapable and lacking in skills compared to other students. However, not believing in their abilities holds them back from their true potential. Rather than trying, students will give up before they have even started. Self confidence is the first step to getting your grades up and becoming successful.
Furthermore, another way that students can get their grades up is by finding ways to be better prepared. Rather than waiting until the last minute to get assignments done, it is best for students to look over assignment instructions and manage their time accordingly. According to Southern New Hampshire University, “Writing down deadlines for each one and breaking longer-term assignments into tasks with their own deadlines can help you avoid beginning a major project at the last minute.”

Lastly, another way that students can achieve better grades is by taking the time to study. Rather than winging a quiz or test, knowing and understanding the material is extremely important. Tests are usually the biggest part of a grade, and failing one can really affect the final grade of students at the end of a term. There are multiple ways to study such as apps like Quizlet, or creating flashcards yourself.
To conclude, I believe that finding more ways to be motivated through self confidence, practicing preparedness and studying are important methods that can help students to get their grades up. Of course, students can find techniques that also work for them specifically, but these key roles in succeeding at school work.
