The school year is coming to an end. Some of you may be just moving on to the next grade. But our senior class of 2025 is about to tie off their high school chapter. What better way to end it off than a trip with all your other senior friends and make memories that will last for a lifetime.
What exactly is a senior trip? A senior trip is a tradition where high school seniors travel together to celebrate graduation and the end of their high school years. This event usually occurs right before graduation like on spring break or shortly after graduation. A senior trip doesn’t have to be a big, extravagant trip. It can be a small little weekend getaway if that’s more your speed. Either way, planning a trip can be stressful. Let’s break it up into smaller steps.
There are a couple big key factors that need to be decided before we move on any further with the planning. Securing parental and school approval, deciding on the destination and type of trip, creating a budget, and booking accommodations and activities in advance. While considering a destination, take into account the budget and everyone’s interest. Does your group prefer beach vacations, exploring cities, or maybe something more outdoors like hiking or camping? It’s also crucial to consider everyone’s travel documents, insurance, and packing essentials. Are they all up to date, is anything expired that needs to be renewed before the trip? I’m going to list three possible destinations that are different from each other to give some ideas for every kind of friend group.
Do you love the beach and the sun? If so, many senior trip destinations fall into that category. For example Cancun, Mexico, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, Turks and Caicos, Florida, Hawaii. These locations offer beautiful beaches, all-inclusive resorts, and a variety of different activities for groups. Cancun, Mexico is known for its crystal clear waters and lively nightlife. Many historic parts to explore like the Mayan ruins as well. An amazing amusement park named, Xcaret. Xcaret offers underground rivers that you can swim in, many animals to see as you walk around, and an amazing performance with over 300 artists on stage at an outstanding venue. If the beach and sun don’t interest you, no worries there are still many amazing destinations to go to.
Do the city scenes interest you more? Something new at every corner, shopping, seeing the artistic culture on the streets, landmarks, and historic buildings. Some destinations for a trip could include: New York, Tokyo, Paris, London, Amsterdam, Mexico City, and Chicago. These places offer countless activities and places to shop. Authentic delicious food to try and the streets are also rich with history. Some of the most famous cities in the world, there sure ought to be something for everyone to enjoy. Perhaps the bustling city life is too much and you want something more lowkey and relaxed in the outdoors.
Lastly, does the outdoors seem more your speed? Hiking, camping, up in the mountains? For example, how about these senior trip destinations: National parks like Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Zion National Park, Yosemite National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, and Glacier National Park. Mountainous Regions like The Poconos, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming. These places offer beautiful scenery a
nd many places to visit. This could also be a more affordable option depending on where you live.
Now that you have some amazing destinations in mind for your senior trip and know the key factors, it’s time to start planning your senior trip and make some unforgettable memories that’ll be with you even after graduation. Gather up your friends, pick a destination, and get to planning. Try and plan months in advance so everything isn’t last second and it becomes stressful. Just remember to have fun and be safe!
